Robert Sinskey Vineyards is a second generation winery that has been biodynamically farming the “Right Bank of Napa” part of the upper Carneros since 1991. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon receive the fullest effect of the cooling breezes of the San Pablo Bay in this most Southern part of Napa. A long growing season results in grapes that achieve full maturity without high sugar, and therefore alcohol, and the vinification seeks to support the bright, fresh black fruits, not slather them in caramel, oak sauce. This is a subtle yet powerful wine. RSV do not submit their wines to publications that focus on numerical scores, because tasting wines one after another without food tends to favor shouty, flashy wines that are simply not good with a meal. They are therefore a little under-the-radar to casual, wine fans, but are very well regarded by those in-the-know. This is a wine that you could cellar for quite a few years, but will also be a perfect wine for a mushroom burger this Summer.
