Vermentino is a grape that becomes distinctive, as do many others, when grown in Sardegna. Generally, Vermentino grown on the Italian mainland and the south of France (with the name Rolle) are full bodied and peachy wines, but in Sardegna the peach is muted and blended with a healthy dose of lemony acidity, rocky minerality, and a lighter body. Drink either as an aperitif or with seafood (prawns with pasta?).
