Andrea Mullineux is a winemaker from the Bay Area who met and married a South African viticulturalist and settled there. She has won every possible award in South Africa and in 2016 was the Winemaker of the Year for Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Her Mullineux Family wines now command a hefty price but her Kloof Street project is still affordable. Chenin Blanc is the main grape of South Africa, and this one is made with native yeast, slow, cool fermentation, with aging taking place in a very specific 85% stainless steel and 15% old barrels, to give just the right amount of weight and acidity to the wine. Medium weight with cleansing acidity to complement the pear, apple and apricot flavors, and a mineral finish.
