The Hendry “HRW” Cabernet Sauvignon gave a star turn in a previous Kompas Club selection, and we are happy to share another stellar wine from this family-owned winery. The Hendry Ranch has had vines cultivating just West of the city of Napa since 1859 and until their first vintage in 1992 they sold all their grapes to wineries such as Mondavi and Opus One. The Pinot Gris block is in the coolest part of the Hendry vineyard, with a high ridge immediately to the West shading the vines in the afternoon. The sustainably farmed grapes are hand-harvested and gently whole-cluster pressed into stainless steel tanks where a weeks-long, cool fermentation keeps the flavors fresh.
