Brundlmayer is among the very top estates in Austria and, like the rest of the country, the focus is on their indigenous white grape, Grüner Veltliner. The winery has not used chemicals in their vineyards since 1979 and became certified for their biodynamic farming in 2015. The grapes are hand-harvested in three or more passes through the vineyards to ensure only ripe, healthy grapes make it into the gravity flow winery. The juice is fermented with natural yeast, malolactic fermentation is prevented, as is usual with Grüner, and a combination of neutral oak barrels and stainless steel tanks are used for maturing the wine. Keep a nose out for that lovely Grüner spice!
