Paolo Scavino is a very well respected producer of Barolo, whose wines sell for an average of $75, so when we tasted the Rosso, a blend of Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Merlot, there was no surprise that it was delicious, but we were shocked to see it with such a low price. The combo made it an easy club selection. These grapes from the younger vines of the estate are blended and benefit from the same level of care as its more prestigious siblings. This fresh, aromatic wine displays aromas and flavors of plum, dried flowers, tar and brown spice. The texture is lush and silky and there is just enough grip to bring balance to the bright fruit. This would be a perfect pizza wine.
