Philippe Bieler and his son Charles believe that the most intriguing wines live at the intersection of Old World and New World winemaking and that modern wines should be built on centuries of heritage in Europe but reflect the new world terroir. Charles always admired the wines of Northern Italy like Alto Adige, Friuli as well as Alsace in France and he wanted to extract wines like them from Washington vineyards. He made that vision a reality when he sourced the fruit from a combination of excellent sites in the Columbia Valley with most of the grapes coming from Ancient Lakes AVA, followed by Yamika Valley and Royal Slope AVAs in the Columbia Valley. The co-fermented Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Muscat blend gives an aromatic wine with notes of fresh apple, petrol, honeysuckle, pear and peach. The balance is dead on with a sense of lightness, texture and freshness that allows the fruit flavors to draw out on the surprisingly long finish. A beautiful wine with cheese, fish, chicken or vinaigrette-based salads.
